Metsa – Men’s Fall ’09 Look Book

To promote Metsa’s first menswear collection, this look book communicates th ebrand’s concept of gifting. The decision was made to blur each photo and to use an androgenous female model to create mystery. The look book initially is viewed as readers spreads, but then is unwrapped to reveal a full bleed poster displaying the final look.

‘Artist’ is a fictitious denim company for which a logo and a life-style magazine were created. The magazine covers topics such as production practices and features the works of artists whose pieces appear in select french folds.

This edition of twenty prints was created to celebrate Barack Obama’s presidency. American one dollar bills were letterpressed with various slang terms for money to represent the many individuals who donated small sums to his campaign.

Toronto based electro- rap-group Times Neue Roman, requested a logo that is aggressive, raw, and draws on punk influences. The letters were created as a result of a happy accident that occurred while printing on a Vandercook letterpress.

This CD case was designed to reflect the digital nature of Times Neue Roman’s songs. The cover is only legible until the sleeve is removed which then reveals a cryptic texture, encouraging the listener to interact with the physical album. The group also requested that an image of Elvis be used because he has become a
part of the band’s visual identity.

The brief was to design a brochure and poster combination for the upcoming season of a fictitious theatre company. The poster had to appeal to an adult audience who were urban and cultured­­­, and be stimulating enough to be used as an advertisement downtown.

In a letterpress course, we were required to create a two-
sided postcard. Using the lyrics from Blackstar’s song “Respiration” for the text, the postcard depicts images of New York in colours reminiscent of yellow cabs and pigeons, both of which are synonymous with the city. The three verses were printed in values of black on top of one another to mimic the appearance of a pigeon.
